How many lures were hanging off that big boy, did you happen to see a fire tiger MP6? I think i lost that last fall on him. What a battle, and on a heartland rod too....nothing like a bruiser on a wet noodle, but that's half the fun of the fight . Seeing that big fish dig for the bottom behind the boat was awesome and the commentary although not suitable for children was great. Hopefully after straddling the motor and netting a monster everything settled into place and the voice returned to its normal levels.
Just like a kid shooting a 10 pointer first hunt out, the bar has been set high for Rick and i am glad that its going on the wall. Looking forward to seeing the mount once completed.
Now lets go fishing and try and break that 10 lb mark.
Fish on

Looks like I may have competition for that second seat now that Rick has been bitten by the salmon bug

I may me reaching here, but do replicas cost more or less then a regular mount?
They use pictures to replicate correct?
I am not asking for price, just if there is a benefit in doing a replica versus using the actual fish, as it was harvested?
You are getting a mount of your brothers fish "Jaws " as well?
Many memories and stories to come for along time for sure.
You are on the fish all the time!
Maybe someday I will get one to mount as well!
With great information here , I feel someday I may get a shot!
Thank you again!
Good luck!

CT brings up a good question; why have a replica made if you harvested the fish? If done well, the real thing will last a long time. I have a couple trout mounted approximately 25 years ago that look almost as good today as when I first got them.

Replicas don't age like skin mounts and last forever without discoloration. They are more expensive, but worth it.

SO.... Jaws went on the dinner plate?
I hope someday to achieve such a great goal. But I think I would have a catch 22, as I would not want to let it go. I would want to have it mounted to be sure. But if I could have a replica that would be the same, I would not want to harvest it for dinner, when I could let it go to grow even bigger, and maybe someday angle with him again .
I guess for me, I need to catch a darn fish that is worthy of a mount period. Then I could figure out what I would choose.
I hope you will post a picture of your mount when you get it done? I would love to see it. I hope you top that fish with another even bigger! You seem to be on a roll!
Than you for the posts and advice!
