Apple Island Reminder

Post by Del Gue »

As of today the Apple Island marina is open. There are two ramps to launch boats from. The state purchased the ramp on the left and is free. The one on the right is owned and operated by the marina. I spoke with them yesterday and they said if people prefer to launch from the one on the right, they still can but there will be a $3 fee. The state also purchased the parking area on the other side of Featherbed Ln and is also free. It's going to get very busy there soon. Hope this will clear up and questions people have.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will go buy a boat.

They both have docks. As you pull in, the public one is the second one on the right. It sounds more complicated than it is. Any questions, just stop by their office and ask. They are very helpful.

Has the ramp been fixed so you can launch and retrieve on a level trailer? This is great news. Thanks for the headsup.

Unfortunately, the state ramp has propwash problems. Its worth the 3 bucks to retieive at the better ramp. Hopefully F&W will install the concrete plank ramp soon.

I launched and recovered at the state ramp on Thursday. It seemed much more level to me than it was a month ago. Not sure if some gravel had been dropped in and leveled or not? My trailer was very level and the boat easily centered on the trailer.
Catch and serve with lemon.

As a reminder, I think they are asking that people not pull into the area via the road (featherbed lane) but rather to access via the parking lot entrance...

That will be tough habit to break... Been many years going into the 1st entrance... Thanks for the heads up...

I have yet to pull in the other way :( Oops.

I love how narrow the docks are now. Since the one has been moved over... the hole is not as bad. IMO.
