Suggestions for this weekend?

Post by Vtfishinglady »

Hi,
Thanks to one of the members for inviting me over. I didn't realize there was another forum for lake champlain until I got a note..
If you've seen my posts on the other forum, we're new to fishing for Salmon and maybe we'll try Walleye too at some point. We've been avid bass anglers for the last 5 or so years.

We've been trying hard (weekends) to find some salmon over the few weeks with little success (one undersized). Is the open lake fishing for Salmon over this year and they can only be caught on the rivers? If there is still some lake salmon fishing to be done, where to you guys suggest?

I do understand that you're not going to be suggesting your honey holes or exact favorite places, so I'm just looking for general suggestions.

Thanks,
Terri

That is a tough one. Converse ramp and go across to find clear water and fish 30-40 feet down to start. Troll along the shoreline 100 feet of water or more and head north. Or if wind is from the north start at Split Rock and troll south along the shoreline.

Thanks Ron, we can do that (I think). Just so I understand, when you say go across, you mean NY side of the lake or do you just mean other side of converse bay? And when you fish for salmon, is it exclusively before 9am?

OUt of converse, on the New York side is Whallons Bay. There's been a few nice salmon caught there recently at cannon pt.
