Lake "O" - Mexico Bay - Aug 7 & 8

Post by JTM203SOUTH »

Great weather for Lake O - winds 5 - 10 and waves mostly 1 -2 feet. Lots of fish on the graph , mostly at 60 to 120 feet in 125 to 200 FOW. The areas out in front of the Salmon River and Catfish Creek were both good. Bite was slow however for the majority of boats in the Mexico area. Water was in the upper 60's and low 70's all the way down to sixty feet, but the dropped rapidly and was in the 40's by ninety feet. We took a 28" steelhead and a 12 lb Laker on Friday. On Saturday we managed to take two Kings - one at 16 lb and one junior which we released. All fish came on green/ chrome and green-white/chrome flashers . The flies were Atomic "Hypnotist " and " Green Krinkle". Issues with the boat cut the weekend short ,but we hope to be back next weekend. Best of Luck to those heading up this week.

Good to hear a positive report. Big blow coming through, probably screw up the already slow fishing there by the time I get there Wednesday afternoon!

Y is it when someone has a slow day on the lake. Them say it was slow for everyone?? Are they listening to the radio for this information or are they checking with the boats as they come in to the launch.??
