Oswego aboard the Fish Doctor July 23rd Saturday

Post by digitroll (ron) »

Just returned from our 2nd annual trip to Catfish Creek with Dave / Gerry / Jan to fish with Dave's boat out of Catfish Creek and Capt. Ernie this past weekend.

We fished 6 am to 1:30 pm on the Fish Doctor going 6 for 7 on salmon. Dave caught the second biggest salmon on Ernie's boat this year about 24.5 lbs. Jan caught a very nice 20 lb. King. Gerry landed a 7 lb Landlock that bit a flasher fly. The landlock was returned unharmed. It was a 50/50 fly spoon bite for us. A great time! I am booking for a third year today for next year with Capt. Ernie. Something that has become a traditional mid-summer break for us on Champlain to go over to the big pond.

Yesterday I fished a short window from 5:15 am to 10:15 am with Dave's boat out of Catfish Creek where we stayed. We went 3 for 5 on Kings and I returned home last night with the remaining crew fishing last night and this morning. I was really impressed with Offshore OR37 SST Pro Mag Inline boards running our 300 ft Copper rods!

Great weekend to get away!

Very bumpy on Saturday! We lasted out the bumps and the fish turned for a mid-day bite that sealed the deal Saturday. Missed that mid-day bite yesterday bailing at 10:20 am to get home.

There must have been 40 plus boats out there Sunday by 7 am. in front of Oswego. The word is out!

Great catch for both days Eric!

Mike,

Our last salmon came off a copper set-up. We had them out the last 2.5 hours of the 5 hour trip.

Heard you got into some nice Stripers on your trip to the Cape. :)
