lake o water levels

Post by finsntins »

anyone planning a trip make sure you do some research before you go as the water level is very high and some launchs are already being closed and some marinas are under water.flooding could be worse this year then 2017.

if mexico point and Pineville are closed by then, you can try the light house marina launch in the big river or you can try mikes marina or salmon country in the little river.

I just got back from the Mexico Bay area and the launches are all still open. Water is up to the parking lot at the launches I went to, but they have added planks / pallets so you can get on the docks without getting wet. I used the Mexico Point and Wright's (Oswego) launches.

The fishing was pretty slow, though. We lost at least 1.5 days due to pouring rain. Ended up with 7 browns, with the largest being my son's first Lake Ontario fish ever at a little under 7lbs. We had fun, but the weather made for tough conditions, between SE wind blowing out the temp, rain, then howling NW wind and 3 footers. Michigan Stingers on leadcore and Bay Rats off boards caught all of the fish. Couldn't find anything else that worked (Bombers, Challengers, etc, etc).

I just heard that Wrights Landing in Oswego is closed until further notice, hard to believe. If water levels continue to rise ,and it looks like there is no let-up in sight, access to the big O may not be available, what a shame.

it is a shame, charter captains that cant find a slip somewhere else will probably loose their business this year.i do believe the launch ramp is still open.also, the mexico point launch is still open, for now.

fishing was good, but has gotten pretty tough this past week.browns have become very hard to find and the kings have seemed to spread out.
