Friday evening. Inyo Saturday fishing trip 8/13/11

Post by Reelax »

After watching the weather forcast for a couple of weeks,
Friday and Saturday lined up as a perfect couple of days to attempt
a 2 day fishing trip...
I got out of work early Friday and Theresa and I hit the lake at
Converse around 4pm... (nice work on the parking lot!)

We dropped the boat in the water and headed for split rock.
The lake was flat and we setup outside the point and picked up a quick
shaker on the way toward Whalons. Even though the sun was low in the
sky it was Hot, Hot, Hot!

We had a 2 rigger 2 slide diver setup going as usual, one rigger at 60 the
other at 45, both with free sliding cheaters. The slide divers were at 200
and 150 feet of line out with 20-30ft between the diver and the lure.
Theresa picked out this Crazy Ivan spoon, that really hasn't had much
time in the water yet, but it fired right off.... then again... and again...

It fired 3 times out of 3 with salmon each time into the evening... All other spoons out were silent during this time! Sorry no samlon pics, keeping
them in the water and quick releasing this time of year...

By around 7pm, we decided to head south and look for a spot to
park for the night...
We toured down by BarnRock and the "lean too", all good bays
on the NY side had blow boats parked in them... ???
We headed back up the VT shore and slected Porter Bay just north
of Otter Creek to anchor in... By 9pm.

Theresa setup a dinner of BLT's... They were tasty...

The evening sky was a nice sight....(very few bugs... till about this point)

We hit the sheets around 9:30pm when the moskitos arrived...
I then spent the next 4hrs trying to seal the cuddy better and figure out
why they weren't even bothering Theresa!

I did take this full moon pic with the reflection in the water..

At 5:30am, we got up, had a quick breakfast, and headed out
of the bay to setup on the main lake... Things started pretty slow,
we worked our way up by splitrock, into Walons and past Cannon
point and by the ferry... All the time I think we only boated 1 salmon...
Decided to do a little scouting and headed North on the VT side way above the ferry. We started picking up a few small salmon, then Theresa got into a heavy fish....

After a short battle, we net her a master angler laker at 30.5"..
(her 5th entry)

It came on an old Mp6 I have....

Next thing we know here comes a big cruiser up the lake, and its
Tunamas getting ready to setup in his luxury liner, "Serenity Now"...
We also had Bomber and Cloud Nine hammering the lakers on the reef
outside us.. Enjoyed listening on the radio...
They were having a good old time, even though the wind was a little
challenging at time... Since the bite was still slow, we decided to head
back to Walons to get some smooth water. We did see a very nice old
boat the "LuLuBell" came in for a rest period in the bay...

Some time around 4pm, 24hrs after putting the boat in the water,
we decided to call it a trip and head for home... Other than the bugs,
I think the trip as a success...
Slow fishing, but that is to be expected this time of year...
I think we boated 9 salmon and 2 cisco's during the outting...
Mostly smaller Salmon, one around 20".

12hrs of trolling.. 3 gallons on the kicker... Saving $$ all ready.

Fishon!
