Away trip to Drag Lake in Haliburton Ont.

Post by Reelax »

Well, it looks like Theresa and I are going to have a chance to drive 400 miles to Drag Lake in central Ontario (100 miles north of Toronto) on Aug 27th and fish for a few days. We have friends with a cabin on the lake, and he has a small fishing boat. The lake has cold and warm water species and is known for it's Salmon, Lake Trout, and Walleye.... Not sure what the plan is,
but I am bringing some lite bites and both walleye and salmon
hardware... This trip will be quick, probably 2 days of fishing
at best, but it will be a scouting trip for future excursions in the area....

This lake has areas over 200ft deep and is quite large for the area. Over 3 miles long and over 1 mile wide at the middle, but like many Ontario lakes has an irregular shape that is larger than the distance across leads you to beleive.

I am interested in any info or pointers anyone would have on what would be best to target on a lake like this at the end of
August. And also what methods may be good to try.
I will talk to the locals when we arrive, but figured someone here may have experience in this type of northern lake
around this time of year..

If this lake is good enough, maybe next year I will trailer the boat out there...

Anyone wanna go on a road trip??? ;D ;D
