Silver search Saturday

Post by Reelax »

Launched from converse at 1st light with 2 other boats out to start and 2 more by mid morning. Good to see the crew of the country angler and share some November water with another frostbite boat. We searched all day for salmon, finding lakers everywhere. We ran riggers and slide divers and action was from 20 to 60 down. While up by cannon point we started seeing active bait and landed double silvers on Cheater and main line at the same moment The country angler also struck silver just north of
Us! Interesting to see 3 salmon all decided to play at once…

Black and white cop car with silver back took both salmon about 58’ down. See face temp was 49-50 and the same temp was seen beyond 100 fow everywhere.

Hope the big boys come back out of the rivers soon…

Menu consisted of custom hot wings by Dean, followed by shrimp kabobs by Kenny finished with bbq spare
Ribs to complete the feast.

Good to see Dillyworm out in early afternoon. Always good to have company in November, also think we spotted digitroll just before we headed back to VT to finish the troll.

Notable today was the flock of 200+ Canadian geese that seemed to want to land in front of us no matter where we trolled. Not sure how successful they were being but they kept working the same water as we did..

Fish on!

I know when you post, it will be a good one. Tha is for the information. I am heading out this afternoon, trying to decide on a location. I am tempted to hit the waters in the vicinity of the mouths of the winooski and lamoille rivers. Tha is for the great info!

Reelax, good talking with you and Homewrecker on the radio yesterday and thanks for the tips on salmon (I didn't find any, but went 6/8 on lakers and had a good time trying).
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !

Lots of fun fishing with you guys again as usual. I'll get my report up in a day or so.

Matt, thx for the report out. Have only taken the Black Ghost out a couple of times this season, last time being several Sundays ago. We noticed the lack of adult salmon. Got all excited to see the lead core bouncing. Turns out that was a laker too which I almost never get that shallow.

I'll see you guys out there soon.

Geese are acting weird this fall. I've seen huge flocks on the water all moving together, and I do mean huge. Not sure if the hunters were really after them and got them defensive-minded, or if more are wintering over due to the mild fall, or what.

That was me Matt. Came out with a guest at 12:15 pm and set up out of the wind and stayed in Whalon's for 3 hours (pretty choppy in the channel) and came in at 3 pm. 4 LT about 1 to 1.5 lbs. at 20 and 30 feet on the free sliders. Lot of bait up high and water temp. was 49F.
