Willsboro Lakers

Post by hooks40 »

We went on our annual trip to Willsboro this past weekend. Arrived Saturday afternoon to a very stiff South wind which had the lake rolling. Landed 6 on jigs in 80 FOW, but it was tough to get them to bite. Sunday was more of the same with even heavier winds. We moved out a bit deeper in 80-90 FOW and landed 13 in a full day. On Monday, after the storm rolled through the wind shifted west and the rollers subsided it turned on. We found the most active fish were in 100-120 FOW, which is deeper than we typically fish. We landed 32 fish in a full day, with the top fish being 13 lbs. All fish were caught on jigs with plastic on it. The best color was a smelt/shad color. We'll be back next year! Thanks to all that contribute here. There are lots of clues in the posts.

Thanks for your post.
Happy to hear your annual fishing trip to Champlain was successful.
32 fish in one day must have kept you pretty busy.

We probably were out there for 10 hours, so 3 fish an hour between 2 guys is not that fast. There have been times when we've done much more than that. It just depends on their mood that day. Enjoy the fishery and treat your fish nicely!
