Has anyone ever targeted brown trout during summer?

I have not - have just occasionally picked one up fishing for salmon. I am hardly an expert, though.

I know on Lake Ontario this time of year, finding where the thermocline meets the bottom is the preferred area to fish for browns. I'm not sure if the Lake Champlain browns behave the same way or not. I'd start by finding the depth that the water hits 55-60deg and then fish around that depth.

But, I'm also not an expert. I caught my first 2 "real" browns in Champlain a few weeks ago and they were 56' down over 100'. So you just never know.

The only one I have caught was at 60 feet in 100. Trolling a blue back rapala j9.

Any specific spot I should try on the lake?

I agree with Crayfish that where bottom or structure meet the thermocline is a great spot to hit especially if you add the 3rd leg of the stool.. BAIT.

Browns love structure.... ledges, reefs, anything they can hang near...

Although it has not helped me much this year. Can count the browns landed on one hand  very rare fish in 2021 for me..

Usually do more browns than Steelehead but this year it has been the opposite.

What area of the lake would you try for them.

Any place the thermocline meets structure. Fish will be on the bait. All over the lake:’ :P
