Reel question
Reel question
Not a fishing report but a question. Bought a Penn reel to replace a Cabelas reel on a downrigger rod. It came with parts shown but I have no idea what they’re for. Can anyone clue me in?

Re: Reel question
Used to bolt the reel to the pole, kinda overkill for lake Champlain.
Just added weight IMHO

Re: Reel question
A lanyard is attached to this and to the boat so rod and reel don’t go over the side

Re: Reel question
Oh man I could have used that this weekend. I could not find a fishing partner so went by myself on Friday evening. The lake was calm so I thought I could handle it by myself. Set up my riggers and started trolling. My rod rod fired. As I went from my boat wheel to the rod, the boat turned from some other boat waves and the rod holder was straight on with the line and fish. The rod went flying out of the holder just before I could grab it. If someone sees a yellow 6ft Eagle Claw downrigger rod with an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Line Counter Reel being pulled around, let me know. Middle of lake between Arnolds Bay and Westport.
