Flying silver

Post by Goin-Deep »

New to the forum, we out of converse bay yesterday 7/31 at around lunch time. Myself and my good buddy aboard we decided to set up in front of split rock and head south towards Westport. Two rigger and two dipsy spread we picked up a quick lake trout on a crazy Ivan cop car down 65 feet. After the quick laker it got real slow for about two hours just before 3 o’clock 70 ft rigger fires and it’s a good one I grab the rod. Fish makes two fast runs at the boat and jumps 3 times coming completely out of the water next to the boat on the 3rd jump. Quickly seeing this is a really nice one I tell my buddy to be ready with the net as the excitement builds I get the fish to the boat and my buddy scoops up a beautiful 6.38 salmon. This got me very excited as it hasn’t really been a good year in terms of big fish for me the numbers have definitely been there but the size hasn’t. This got the mood very high on the boat for the rest of the afternoon only boating two more small salmon and a smallmouth on a 70 rigger witch really surprised me. The fish came on a gold and black spoon not sure the name of it. As I said I am new to this forum and enjoy reading all the reports.
