Snuck in a quick fishing trip Saturday morning, before leaving for a camping trip on Sunday.
Launched at Redgate, fished from Split Rock to Scotch Bonnet, jumping here and there. Not much to see on the sonar, except the usual phantom fish or whatever is swimming around from 100-120 feet all year long.
Temperatures were all mixed up, often seeing 60℉ at 60' down. But, on average, we were trying to fish 60-80' down over 70-90 ft of water. Most of the time that fit the whole 48℉-55℉ window we were looking for, but not always.
Had a few releases, landed some, lost some, all small Lakers. Only took pictures of these two guys.
Liam offered his to Brody, who declined, thinking it was a baby laker, and didn't want to waste his up. But, he should have taken it, since it turned out to be a master angler perch. Liam's 11th entry of the year so far, and species number 6. Brody's still chasing his first youth master angler title.
As a little bonus report here, if anybody's near Fox Island off of Popham Beach in Maine, try throwing a Berkley Gulp soft plastic eel. You might get one of these guys. We fished a little today in between all of the other usual beach activities.

Yeah, we've caught a few on mackerel chunks in years past. Raining this morning, so we went out to get some mackerel for later.
What's it called when you catch 5 at once? Pentuples? Liam got two today, but one turned into a quadruple on the way up to the cooler. Brody got a single, and what looked like some anchovies.

Thanks for the report, nice knowing what’s going on in areas where I fish. Westport to Split Rock/Whallonsbay and Willsboro Point/Schuyler Island. Maybe the big ones are heading to the bottom.

Well, I know this looks a lot like the last picture, but, I swear, it is really a different fish, different day. We fished bottom rigs with mackerel and plastic eel chunks, no takers. One strike on a plastic white swim bait. Same spot later on in the day, same lure as yesterday, got the fish.
