Monday, Tuesday report
Monday, Tuesday report
Started our annual spring trip to Champlain Monday. Fished late afternoon to dusk. Began at Thompson's, through Town Farm to Kingsland to Diamond. Picked up 6 lakers and missed 1 leaping silver. Tuesday we started at Kingsland to Diamond to NY side to Scotch Bonnett back to Town Farm. Landed 12 lakers and were 1 for 3 on salmon. Our setup began with 2 riggers with cheaters, a ski jigger and a jig pro. With no takers for feathers we switched out to lead off boards. Riggers still took majority of fish down 18-25'. Best lures were Crazy Ivan's, Honeybees and Stinger Scorpions. After dinner we hit Thompson's. Had trouble getting 4 lines in the water! Fished til dark. 12 lakers to #6, 3 salmon, one a true beast at 7lb, 5oz and one steelhead! Same depths as above. Substituted lead for slide divers. Everything fired! Top lure by far was Crazy Ivan Sausage Gravy Milkshake. You know you have a great lure when the white is getting worn off! The salmon are there, you just have to work through the lakers.
