Converse Bay Boat Launch Condition????

Post by TruViking »

:D Hey All!
Been nice to read all the successful reports and tales's of Safe Returns.
I have e some time today and tomorrow and the Wind/Weather seem prime.
I am wondering about the conditions at Converse. Is it Ice'd in? These cold nights have me thinking that would be the case. I am trying to avoid the drive from Burlington if I can. If anyone has a "real time" or close to it, report that they could share, I would be grateful.
Thanks for Reading.

Stay Safe Everyone.

Best,
Ej

Today as they stand:

Converse

Ice seemed to be 1 1/2 or so pretty easy to break at this point & with a good south wind " Out she Goes"

That's the beauty of Converse

Try to keep from watering the ramp and hill with your trailer. Pull up and let it drain .

Sand the hill when you get there and the salt sand will eat into it and even more if the sun is on it. It will be better when you leave and try to go up the hill with a boat on the trailer then. Try not to spin your wheels " No Traction" and you are spinning off your sand.

A flat long handled shovel let's you chop ice, remove packed snow & spread sand. The sand in the barrel is a mix of sand & salt ....no salt = Frozen block of rock.

I usually carry 2- 5 gal pails of salt sand with covers to keep e'm dry.

Along with a shovel I carry a old Ice Bar " that's the thing that we used before augers :D

Arnold Bay Today:

Appears to be 1 1/2 inches or so

Rick Cloutier Panton Road Commissioner has been keeping the ramp and hill plowed and sanded but only after town roads are done.
Be careful with your timing if a storm is happening and be prepared .

Lots of loons on the water there today= Bait

Have fun, Stay safe

Conditions January 29.

The wind did what it does in Converse .....Pretty much a clean slate for Now .

It may ice in for a few days but don't despair February is now on the doorstep.

It will be clear sailing into spring :D

Love it. Thanks for the update Randy! Looks like Sunday is fishable as long as this cold snap doesn’t lock it up too tight to blow out Thursday and Friday again...

Can’t wait

It seems like we haven't been out on the water in forever. 2 weeks is a long time I guess.

We did Ice fish a little yesterday south of the bridge with the scouts, and stayed until we got a perch. The No skunk streak continues! The last time we were skunked was a warm water trip out of South Slang on the pontoon, I think in April. No salmon though, so that streak is broken again. We talked to one guy out there as we were leaving, he said he caught a 5.5lb steelhead down there through the ice last week.

We might be able to sneak in a morning trip on Sunday if the weather is good, Just Liam and I. Brody's got an all day scout event, and then me and the other boys have an afternoon hike for a different scout patrol. February is the last month of the calander that we haven't trolled in, hoping to get that checked off our accomplishment list this year. Ill keep an eye on the weather, and let you know if were going out or not. Dilly might be up for a trip too if there's other boats out there.

In other news, I Dropped Detritus off at her new home inside a nice barn for the winter last week. It was a great boat for us, and will be a great boat for the next family too I'm sure. Consequently, Strike Three got Registered, 2 New Fishfinders, casting seats, and I ordered some stuff to fix the leaking hydraulic steering cylinder. We're going to do some Bass Fishing this summer boys and girls.

I'll stop by Converse on the way home from work tomorrow, and post a report back here on how it looks.

Well, here's converse, 4:00pm Friday. Looks good to me. Just a little shoveling on the ramp, not bad.

It was nothin but lakers... 😤

I’ll put up a report in the morning cause we had a Ball fishing next to Country Country angler. Liam is a hardcore frostbite veteran...

Safety in numbers with water temp at 34 deg..
