Converse Bay-Thompsons Point Saturday 11/21/2020

Post by TruViking »

We dropped in at Converse Bay Saturday a.m. @ 6:45-7:00 am.
Keeping our heads down as the Duck Hunter's were seemingly all around us and firing off at prime time! Lol.
We dropped lines right at the drop off of the Bay.
The day before, my Downrigger decided it didn't like me anymore and blew itself apart, so I stuck with two Leadcore and a diver on both sides, with other rods ready for a quick switch. One Lead @ 6 colors, the other @ 2 1/2 colors. The divers were at approx 17' and 22-24'(At least I 🤔)So I was Confident that I would be at good depths. I had the regular spoons with different colors set apart, nothin fancy. There was a mix of Honeybees/Crazy Ivan's and switched up a few other spoons as it progressed.
At 7:30 the lines were sparking off and it wasn't just Lakers! In between the mouth of the bay and Thompson's Point, the Bird action heated up on a few congregated spots. I didn't want to interrupt or spook 'em so I made a wide turn.
We got hit and the excitement was on.
In all we landed 2 out of 4 Salmon(one was lost at the boat/she took the hook with her....and she was sizeable! Uggh! I don't need to explain that feeling to anyone!). We also Landed 2 nice Steelhead(2lb/3-4lb.)and 6 Native, Unclipped Lakers; small ones with the biggest being maybe 3 lbs.. A couple of the hits were line burners and but my mate was wrapped up in her blanket and didn't want to get out of it. Needless to say she didn't get to the rod in time!😄
All of the action was right at the same spot between Thompson's and the Bay, kinda close to the rock ledge. Every set-up I put out got action, from 5-8' down to 35-40.'
I practice catch and release so taking pictures is something that I don't get a chance to do a lot but did take a pic of one of the chunky fishies of that morning.
It was a great 2-3 hour morning though. Had a couple of acrobats that didn't like the way I looked so fought hard to stay away and that made it worth it for me.

Thanks again for this site guys and gals. I look forward to seeing what you all post everyday!!!

Yes. The Elusive Brown Trout. For some reason they don't partake in my offerings!

I'm thinking the same thing, hoping to get out in the morning for one last chance at eating salmon for T-day dinner.

Hope to see you out there. We'll be in an Alumacraft w/ green canvas and will have the radio on 68 .

ps, great orignal post, good to see you & the kids got into a nice mix of coldwater fish !
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !
Keep Calm and... Fish On !
