Fleas

Post by Fishinpole »

Is anyone still having a flea problem? We had them off Willsboro point but not in the Bay. They were not as bad as before but still a pain. I went back to lighter line. I hope it was not to soon.

I.S seems to be clear. But it is also different flea. I.S has spinny flea were the broad lake has the fishhook flea and spinny. Spinny flea flick off and only seem to get a few as the fishhook gets unbearable.

Had a few up in the Islands. Going to get rid of the 50 lb. Not sure if this is a thing or not, my bright green braid seemed to attract more fleas than the dark green I was using.

Hi,

I’m New to the boards. I appreciate all the great info on here.

Fished near Stave Island yesterday. Landed a decent laker in the first 10 minutes, just over 80’. No fleas at all on braid. Fished for another 15 but the two 10 year olds finished their lunch and we’re bored with trolling so we went back to bass fishing which was excellent.

I'm hoping to get rid of this 40lb aubuchon line soon. We've been having a hard time running more than two rods because of all the blowback. The ends of the two riggers we do run are 17' apart too! Still tangle with a single rear rigger we sometimes try to add to the mix. It's no problem running 4 riggers and two inline planers in the spring with lighter line.

The fleas are back up in the islands. Monday's south blow must have pushed them up.
