Quick trip with old friends, (another slimmer report)

Post by ReelInvestment »

Well after not being able to get back up to Champlain for 2 weeks I was excited to start the truck up at 5am and head north! I’ve been wanting to chase salmon, but due to my main crew that enjoys the chase for silver being busy, I took a longtime friend and his buddy and they wanted action. So we launched at converse around 7 and ran to NY and set for lakers. At 7:30 we had a 3 rod set on the 80 foot contour and headed north. At 7:34 fish on. Another at 7:38. Oh boy it’s gonna be one of these day’s! We stayed on that group of fish for a couple hours before the bite died so we picked up and ran to another producing spot I had found early last month. Again on the 80 foot contour we setup and had fish on quick. With the spot all to ourselves we were able to really stay right on those fish. By 1:30 we had landed 18 and lost 3. It was getting hot and the boys were wore out so we headed for home. A great day to be back on the pond and I can’t wait to get back up there. Next time I will be fishing for salmon. Although it is awesome to see new people enjoy the sport and reel on 12-13lb lakers, that’s how you get them hooked!
We had the bite on inline cowbells with split body rapalas behind them 33”. Later in the day it switched to a spoon bite for a bit, but then back to the stick bait. I’ve never caught so many fish on split body rapalas as I have this season! Good luck out there to all fishing!

Looks like your crew had a ball catching those lakers. Nice pics of happy faces.
I'm sure your friends want to go back fishing soon.
