Well I decided that I wasn’t going to fish the fathers day derby this season, but was bumming that I was going to miss a weekend of fishing so I said screw it I'm going Wednesday! Called my neighbor Tuesday and he said he would be waiting at the end of his driveway at 4am sharp. Then the pot got sweeter when my girlfriend decided she was going to play hooky from work too. She hasn’t been on ReelInvestment much this season due to a new job that has her working sundays. Excited we were up at 3:30 this morning and headed down the road to pick up neighbor Steve. We arrived at converse an hour and 45 later. Launched and set up 4 riggers with cheaters. We headed south and within 10 minutes we’re hooked up on a laker. As we net that fish another rod fires and we got a jumper. SALMON! I knew it was a good idea to bail on work today! We looped back through the line we picked that fish up a couple more times and hooked up every time. We ended up hooking a few silvers, but only managed to land 2. One for the grill and one released. We have been catching too many lakers and weren’t used to the way salmon are able to slack up so fast. All well still fun! Ended up landing 23 lake trout (including a very ugly one missing an eye and half of his gill plate) and 2 salmon. And we lost 6. At 2:45 the bite had died and everyone was tired of the sun so we headed for home. Hot colors once again pink and blue. Later in the day Orange UV was taking the hits. Surface temp around converse and Thompson’s was 63 this morning and 69 by the time we left. Found 55 degree temp at 48feet down, salmon came from 45-66 down, 2.4 at the ball. Good luck to the derby fisherman this weekend, ReelInvestment will be back soon!

Honestly the reason for not fishing the derby is we are bad planners! We never booked a place to stay and then with all the COVID going on we figured everything would be shut down. And to our surprise everything is opening again, all well. We will fish it next season!

Haha! Any idea why the pictures turn sideways and upside down sometimes?
Matt I hope to catch up at the ramp some day as well. We try to fish at least one day a week out of converse.
