Last day of Country Angler hiatus?

Post by Detritus »

Hey guys, a couple of you might have heard or seen our big motor on the country angler ate itself a few weeks ago. It looks like preignition and detonation trashed the top cylinder in our force 150 when I pulled the head. Being a Chrysler, it's not worth rebuilding.

But, the day we blew it up, we went and got Detritus. Been fooling around with the warm water fish and sulking the last few weeks.

The baby sister in Kingsland bay. All the perch you wanted that day. Had a big fish fry.

One for Brody, and that makes 4 species Liam, and 3 species Brody so far this year. Those fish were funny, both 30" but one was probably 3 lbs, and the other almost 7.

And this is hopefully going to be the new beating heart of the Country Angler. Heading to pick it up tomorrow, and we hope to be fishing Thursday. 2003 Merc 150. I had an '02 years ago, and it was great to me. Been doing transom work, fiberglass, replacing hatches, waiting for the weeks to go by for this to be ready. Wish me luck.

Love the photos of happy kids with their fish !

Good luck with the new motor, hope to see you out on the Lake soon !
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !
Keep Calm and... Fish On !

I had a boat exactly like yours with a force engine a few years back. It was the best day of my life when i upgraded to a Yamaha!

Very important to service the carbs every season, especially on the two strokes - even just a slight discoloration from varnish inside a high speed jet will burn down a cylinder. Seafoam is a good product but it’s not always enough.
