Homewrecker Back in the saddle

Post by Reelax »

Launched at 1st light with Homewrecker and Dave F aboard.
We figured we were in for a great day and Lake Champlain did not disappoint. I had some new toys to test out and all systems checked out perfectly and I am amazed at some of the new technology out there..

The new simrad go9 will
Bluetooth to any phone or pad and let you run it remotely from anywhere in the boat. You can put an iPad on the motor for a extra screen and even control the simrad ap24 auto pilot from your iPad or phone. The unit will run chirp and a structure scan overlay so you get an amazing imaging effect. See the pics... You can see holes in the sandy bottom while picking predators out of the bait balls clearly.. worth the update. ;)

We started slow but by 930 am all we needed was a brown trout for a gram slam.. :| The salmon and steelhead were so spunky today I think we only landed half the fish we hooked. They were running across lines and around riggers and jumping over slide divers... it felt like a circus at times..

On triples we could
Only land one.. . and the other 2 got loose with a ball of
Line left over to deal with looked like a birds nest

What fun!

I am going to let the pictures tell the rest... It was a long day on at 530 and off at 4pm:)

Best spoons of the day are pictured. Honerable mention to the custom orange mp6 by Deano. It slayed fish all day!

Hot dogs, Italian sausage, and chicken wings were the BBQ menu for today’s trip..

Fish on!

We made the trip down there today and found the Lakers in hungry mode all over the place. The bigger the spoon, the bigger the fish . 25- 50 down. As for the salmon, we had to hunt a lot of water to find them but when we did they were in the bait balls. Same lure combos that Matt was running did the trick. Fish 3-5 lbs, no little guys which is a little concerning. Again 30-50 down and in the bait.

Technology is getting amazing for sure
Check out Panoptix sometime, cool stuff!

Glad dean-o made it out!!

I’m seeing a pattern now with you guys, it’s the chicken wing sauce on your fingers and then touching the lures

You got yourself a nice deal on the Simrad unit.
You've got a great setup.
Thanks for the report and pics.
