Personal best Lake Champlain Brown

Post by Reelax »

Fished today with lightandvariable and dreamcatcher. We started at 1st light with high hopes and 3 courses to BBQ before we were done... I’ll let the pics tell the story as I am too pooped to type. At 10am we hooked into a solid fish that went on multiple runs... including an impressive opening jaunt.....got her on a small blue rapala and Jeff did a great job on the net. At 7.2lbs and 23” she was my biggest brown ever on home waters! :o

Today’s menu began with hot pretzels followed by chili dogs and closed out with marinated steak tips for the final course. Eating between bites is the thing to do on Reelax.. :?

Thanks for a trip I will never forget guys!!!

Congrats for your Brown, it's a beauty !!!
As for those cormorants, we need to get organized this fall. You guys can drive them onto our side of the border and we are allowed to shoot them.

Nice fish my brother, wish i was there to enjoy the fun with you, but thanks for the early text of that hog. You were certainly due for your own PB after helping put countless others on theirs, myself included. Fish on my friend! Nice work

What a brown! Nice!
If my brown this spring hadn't shrunk, it would have been that big.

Fantastic fish Matt! What a trophy Brown.
Food looks pretty good too.
Looks to me like you need to carry a shotgun on board as well.

Update on stomach contents... both the 20” salmon and the 23” brown were barren of any food in bellies!!! Both were caught on that little Rapala 6 ft down over 25fow. 125ft back on 15lb seaguar red label flourocarbon, with a 5ft 10lb blue label seaguar flourocarbon leader....... I use a 20lb pline triple swivel that fits thru islets easily..... :? I find the big fish in the details..............

Minimal stretch in a mono long line.... key for good hook sets.

Good luck everyone, I share cause I want everyone to to enjoy the same adventures.. :)

My grand kids will enjoy the fillets.

1.6lb each!
