Salmon an Browns Port Henry
Salmon an Browns Port Henry
The salmon and browns are hitting good around Bulwagga bay. Seeing allot of Lamprey's on the fish we are boating, killed about a dozen so far. All most all the fish we are catching have lamprey wounds. Here is a 5lb brown with fresh wounds, there were two on the other side as well. Water temp has been running in the mid 40's. Hot lures for me has been the blue moon and sausage and gravy. Running both downriggers and planer boards.

Nice fish! Thanks for the report!
The water's staying nice and cold, which suits me just fine.

Re: Salmon an Browns Port Henry
We launched today after lunch at the bridge, school pretty much is happening in the mornings. Saw a few other boats near bridge, Bulwagga and port Henry.
We were fishing small spoons, crazy Ivan's and the type, and our purple challenger we like, couple little shad looking things, dodger and a fly, planer boards running 1 color of lead, and riggers between 6 and 12 feet.
No fish!
Speed and heading was tough to control today, being 15 to 20, and always at an angle to the boat. So, the heading you were looking at was a good 20 to 30 degrees off from your actual path of travel, and you could barely peek at the rods or you lost your bow.
But, like I told the boys, every trip out is more experience. We started the chrapsler outboard in the driveway before we launched, and it started right up in the lake. Almost the first time ever. I think it's a temperature/ back pressure/ cranking speed thing that makes that thing start so hard cold. Plus, my 13 year old got some more piloting time this time in some pretty stiff wind. Good thing he was there today too, the wind would have beat the crap out of the boat on the rocks if we tried to beach it like we usually do.
But, got us out of the house, and we learned some stuff.

By the way, I think we're heading out to our usual areas around town farm bay tomorrow, morning if anybody wants to hit us up on the radio.
