10/20 converse

Post by ReelInvestment »

Launched out of converse Sunday morning around 7am, ran straight to the NY side and set 4 down rigger rods and settled in. It was cold on the lake but perfect conditions for a fall day. Lines weren’t in the water for 5 minutes and we had a hit on a cheater. Swing and a miss. In the process of resetting, bang! another rod fires and fish on! Small 24” lakers were on fire, for the next hour we had a pretty consistent bite every couple of minutes. We even doubled a couple times which is always interesting with only two people on board and light lines. At the end of the day we had landed 12 out of 20 hits and killed one eel. Saw a couple salmon busting surface but we never boated one. Had a couple on and lost at the boat.
Just another great fall fishing day for me, this has been the latest I’ve fished in the fall and it’s awesome! The lake is so quiet and the fish bite!
Fishing this coming weekend, but unfortunately not going to make the shootout derby due to a cousin getting married that weekend, but at this rate I plan to fish well into November.
Good luck and tight lines to anyone that gets out and enjoys the fall fishing!

Me and 802fishtail saw you guys at the ramp heading out and coming back in. Similar day for us, landed 15 or so lakers, more hits. Most were under 22 inches.
Highlight of the day was when I finally decided to go off plan and head to the deep water just off diamond where there were some birds working, got close to the birds and all 4 rods fired. 3 lakers, and a fat 18 inch brown on a flat line cop car ivan spoon. No salmon from the ferry to snake den and back to Thompson.

I think I saw those birds as we were running north after we passed you guys below the green can south of diamond. I was thinking we should have tried them quick, but wanted to get back to where we were catching fish early.
