Converse foliage run on Wednesday 10/15

Post by Reelax »

Hit converse with Dreamcatcher and Fishdawg at 1st light... temp was 57 deg on top and break wasn’t till 75 ft to colder water... lots Of Tgt temped water to deal with:(

We started slow and due to the full moon the bite didn’t really start to
Go till late morning.

Today we bbq’Ed smoked sausage and also bacon wrapped scallops.

To make things interesting I dumped my spoon box and had to re fill it with over 250 spoons one at a time. That took a good hr and a half. But atleast they are separated by blank type again.

Then around noon Crazy Ivan called to let us know he was gonna join us.. I wasn’t off the phone for 5 min when the inside port rigger fires and i grab the rod.. right off a huge silver jumps 2*.. then proceeds to rip off about 75 yards of line... This guy fought well, dug deep and made multiple runs. Every time I got him 40ft to boat he would tear off another 50 yards.. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Zzzzzzz

What we fish for!

Long story short Ken was able
To get the net under him... a beautiful 25” fatty.. prob a Oct all season entry, but I hate derbies so I don’t even bother to weigh him...

Great day on the pond with 2 great fisherman. I think counter only
Ended at 8 but after over 10hr in the water we were pooped...

Fish on!

Still sounds like a nice day Matt.
The pic of your lures on the floor looks like a "yard sale" :)

Update... no dept, lure color, setback info included as we are just to close to the shootout...

The update is that this fish had small 2-3” smelt only in its belly...

6.4 lbs on the scale this morning... not bad for Oct... they aren’t all up the rivers

And some really nice fillets...

Matt - Kudos. And awesome looking fillets! It's funny, in some pictures it looks dark and in others it looks pretty bright. The fillets in any case look excellent. What was next? Lemon Pepper, brown sugar, dill and grill?

The picture of the special mate on the ground
When I grow up I want to be,
One of those harvesters of the sea.
I think before my days are done,
I want to be a fisherman.
