Sometimes we would not catch anything without the bbq...

Post by Reelax »

 Hit converse at 6 am today with an empty launch. Lightandvariable and Dreamcatcher aboard for a 6 line spread.

It was a slow. today and we worked hard to get the counter up to 6 fish.... we had to keep firing up the bbq to get a fish on and we started that trick at 830am, cause we had trolled 2 hrs without a release...

Every time we ate we had a release or 2.... so 1st we had Cajun pork spareribs, then we had hot dogs, then we had teriyaki :| marinated steak tips.... lots of nourishment to keep us going in the mixed rain, wind, sun.. no weight is lost aboard Reelax....

Good times and good food..I’ll just attach pics cause I’m too tired to type.. 8hrs 23 miles covered... fish on...

Wow, a lot of electronics in front of whoever is at the helm! But more seriously, why do you prefer to use a tablet for bottom contours and not just use your Lowrance on split screen (with a Navionics card)?

With a used tablet you can run state of the art navionics on a tablet for about the cost of a cheap tablet ($100-200j and $15 for the navionics app. It works better in my opinion and integrates with the iPad camera for videos with about 3 button strokes. The sonar can then split the screens for 83mhz and 200mhz to show both predators and bait separately so we can tell where the salmon are holding... it is how I run the helm and I find it optimum for locating bait and predators.

For me, the most important electronics I have is the simrad ap24 autopilot under the dash.. that is what keeps us off the bottom and since I can’t pay attention for mOre than 2 min, it helps keep Reelax on course and protects my gear. I have also found that 30deg zig zags with the autopilot triggers following salmon to bite..... when it slow, start ziggin...

Fish on!
