Couple dozen on the inland sea.

Post by Reelax »

Hit apple island at 6am with an empty
Launch. Da and lightandvariable jumped aboard for some fun pulling metal. We found temp at 45 feet and set up 3 down riggers 2!slide divers and a 6!color lead down the shoot. Wasn’t
Long and we had salmon on followed by a brown and it was doubles to kick off our day. What a blast. Surface temp was 74 and it was calm as a cucumber... we got
Salmon on sausage gravy milk shake, happy hooker, wonder bread, tres amigos, mottled green mp6, and a few others.... more
Than once we had doubles on ine rod with Cheater and main line getting hit. Once I had a 12” fish jumping on the cheater while a 3 lb salmon kept him honest pulling down the whole way in... pretty cool... the bite lasted right thru the hot dog bbq and into the afternoon... by 1pm Dave and Jeff bet we would go 15!min without a fish... well they were both wrong we got doubles to close the day....

What great fun with friends... all fish released except the last one who got
Fill hooked and is getting eaten.. clicker was at 26 ay the end but we had to have missed a few along the way...

Fish on!

Great day on the sea indeed, fish were small but active and it kept us busy all morning.

Lots of laughs and good times with the fellas.

I may have heard Light N Variable say it was more fun then perch fishing

Light gear as the fleas were minimal made it much more enjoyable to catch shakers.

Nice report. It has been producing up there for awhile.
My last trip from Outer Malletts Bay was Sunday....getting pretty low, big motor all the way up and powered thru with the Minnkota. 14-16 inches in the lowest spot.
I didn't notice Fleas, but the weeds were pretty bad.

Sounds like you three had a great day Matt. Inland Sea has to be the place considering all of the flea infestation again.

Went out of the Saco River in ME today after finally getting my motor back out of the Motor Doctor office two weeks ago. 0-Stripers, 4-Bunkers (used as live bait). But boat ran great finally. I had a new powerhead put on last month due to having dirty and watery gas last summer and being without it since mid August.

Catch a few for me too please.

Great report Matt! Glad to see the sea still has some life. Last time out there for me with Rob all we could manage were a dozen shakers, that was a couple of weeks ago. By the way I love that first lure in the pic!love seeing a dragnballs producing fish!

Hi Matt,

Hope you and Theresa can enjoy some ME time. It is called Vacationland, but, I can't seem to find much time for that with work. I still make it up to Burlington about once a month for work. Let4 me know of you make it to So. ME sometime.

Stripers are a little slow as the water is warming up. However the Striper bait "Bunker" keep us busy on trout fishing rods as we catch them. No Blue Fish thank goodness this year so far as they make it hard to catch stripers, but, with the hot weather they might head north.
Haddock fishing was very good mid to late season. Now you have to go out very far and fish very deep. Doesn't make it fun reeling up from 250' to 300'.

Because the boat was out of the water for repair this Spring I never had a chance to make it to Sebago yet. I hope to go up downrigging for salmon and jigging for lakers over the next couple weeks.
