mid-day SILVER

Post by mudchuck »

Who says you have to be up at the butt-crack of dawn to troll salmon?!
Caught these 2 on Saturday back to back at the end of a turn and entering right back into the same run, both right at high noon!
First salmon of the season for me...been busy with off water things...they were delicious.

50' down, 70' back.

Fished solo. on water at 8, off at 1.
6 releases for the day, 4 hookups total, lost an even bigger jumper - it threw the hook.
Inland sea.
Hardly any fleas.

Nice going, Mudchuck! Congrats on the salmon. Perchbait and I were out there, as well. Saturday was a great day to be on the water!

Were you fishing Georgia shore? Wish we would have seen you out there in your "new" boat.

(BTW .... that's SILVER, not CHROME :D )

How did you guys do out there? Is it finally starting to set into the normal midsummer pattern?

I wouldn't call it "normal" at all, actually! My Fishhawk TD said that it was 52deg at 65'. We caught several salmon that morning, anywhere from 10' to 50' down. Nowhere near temp! We had a blast, but just wished we could have found some bigger fish. Most were 16-18".

I was in the Inland Sea Saturday as well. we fished 10-3. One nice fat salmon about 19" in the first 15 minutes. Hit the cheater on a stacked line, guess it was about 30' down. We had a couple of knock offs we missed due to other interests and lost a couple at the back of the boat. Some fleas... I have never seen in the IS in my 40 years of fishing it. Yet another nuisance. The guys from the Basin program are great, got my boat and trailer power washed on the take out.

I heard you on the radio, riddler. I wasn't sure if you were out there or at home. We had a few fleas, as well, which was discouraging. Also killed one lamprey.

Where did you put in? I didn't see the basin guys at Apple Island.

Thought for sure we would pick one up Wed, but NONE yet!

We did get 3 BIG yellow perch while trolling over 100fow about 35 down... They were FAT! Came in a flurry along with a nice salmon... 4 rods went off but only 1 cold water fish

Awesome! I must have put in before they got there and took out after they left. I did stop fishing mid-day and go visit a certain friend in Keeler's Bay!
