Shelburne 7/10

Post by meangreen1 »

With the winds back out of the south I decided to take a day off from work and do a solo trip back to Shelburne bay to see if the salmon were back in there. Set up at 6:30am before the orange can and had doubles right off... Trying to steer and land 2 fish was looking ok until they crossed... managed to land one and the other fell off. Would hit a salmon on every pass until 8:15-8:30 when a light breeze and chop started and the salmon shut off and the small laker bite started. Still managed 7 salmon (17-20”) before the bite ended and lots of small 15” lakers. All fish were 25-35’ down. One side had vertical blades and the other dodgers. Both produced fish. Left by noon and went back out this evening to the outside of Stave Island. Lots of marks 40-60’ down. Only one release and a miss but still a great day and evening

Mine is a 2004 with a 115hp Mercury saltwater series 4 stroke. Hoping to put a kicker on next year though... Hate not having a backup motor. Overall I’m impressed with the boat. Handles the waves real good!
