Shelburne 7/5

Post by meangreen1 »

After getting into some nice fish before the Burlington fireworks decided to head back and try for some more big fish. Got out about 6-6:30am and the bite was on right off.... morning started will all salmon and a bonus steelhead. My boy has been wanting one the last few years but has not been able to get one until today... it put up quite a fight tangling two other lines before I could even grab the rod.... My boy hung in there and after a couple attempts he got it to the net. He was one happy boy! Late morning we landed a pig salmon that screamed the drag and put on quite a display of jumping. Still amazes me how fast they can run once they grab the line.... this salmon was 75 yards of the port side in a blink of an eye and put up a good fight!. The salmon bite slowed so we took a mid day break and swam to cool down. Headed back out trolling but the salmon bite was gone and we picked away at the Lakers until we left. Lots of light bites where they would pop the riggers and be gone or you would have them on and they would just fall off. Still was a great day.... was bummed we couldn’t get a brown to make it a grand slam but still was an awesome time! All fish were off the riggers 25-35’ down

Love the smiles... That Steelhead in the last pic is bigger than the 2 we have landed in our last 2
trips out.. Glad to hear some bigger fish up north... Appreciate the story as well as the reports!

Thanks Mike

Sounds like a great day! Nice report and pics! Were you finding fish inside the bay?

Sorry for the late response... yes inner bay inside the orange can just out from the launch. Last week they were still there but the bite has been early for the salmon.
