Better late than never

Post by Trackertroller »

Hello All,

Been awhile for posting and fishing LC for that matter.

Work has been crazy to say the least! Feast or famine as self employed.

Effie and I finally broke loose to get in a trip to LC and rotary participants

We fished Friday searching for bait in shallow water. We fished from the scotch bonnet south to barbers point.
Managed a few juvenile lakers.

Saturday we fished south of barbers and towards the bridge. Lots of bait and plenty of fish!!!
We fished a line with some structure which was about a half mile. The south pass always produced 2 fish. We had a lot of fish on / fish off. We were trolling about 2.0-2.2.
We sped up to 2.5-2.7 and fish started to stick more. Lots of salmon hitting a original Effie’s dream taped on a speedy shiner at 34’ down on the starboard rigger.
That rod fired more then 50 times.
Had another same taped speedy at 33’ down and nothing happening. Tried 35’ and nothing. Had a slide driver out and put that at 34 and BAM! fish on, otherwise a quiet slide diver. Depth can matter!
I had a big laker on for 5+ mins only to muscle it a bit too much and ripped the hook out of its mouth. Lesson learned on those hog lakers!

We also ran a large stinger salmon viagra which was very productive compared to its smaller counterpart.

Sunday we fished the same area with similar results. We both landed nice lakers and weighed them in.
Effie ended up with 577 points for the derby with a salmon and laker. I didn’t even add mine cuz her fish out weighed mine.

It was great to be back on the big lake!!
Chatted with Reelax and popster

Much fun had on the PLENTY OF FISH last weekend.
See you all soon
Tight line and sharp hooks!!

Good to see you and Effie out on the pond again during the Rotary... Your last day was much more eventful than ours. The move North did not prove a good idea for us at all on Sunday.

Lots of action makes any day a great one. Think of the practice you got.

JEREMY:

How many hook points on that speedy? Was it a treble hook or single? How about a front ring?
