Mid week trip

Post by MWM »

Decided to try a mid week shakedown trip. With the cool wet spring we're having it was the first chance we've had where the wind was not atrocious. It felt like an early April day as we launched frome under the Champlain bridge. Set out a 2 man spread of 2 leadcore on planers and 2 riggers. Ran all spoons today starting with bright colors, chartreuse/silver was what the fish wanted. First fish came on rigger set 65ft back, 12 down. Next 2 hits were drops, well we found some that wanted to play. Bait and fish seemed to be deeper than I expected with most marks coming 14-20 down over 20-30ft. Kept at it and finished the day 3 for 7 all coming on the riggers, no leadcore action today. Not a great bit but no shakedown issues so we left happy.

Butcher,
No sir, fish were 18"-20". Hopefully when the lake stabilizes after this wind and rain trend the older fish will show up.
