trolling for salmon with my son and granddaughter alayna

Post by fishy1 »

5/5/2019 headed out for some salmon trolling this morning with me driving the boat my son setting up 4 rods all with honeybee casting lures on them and alayna my 8 year old granddaughter will catch every release. 2 on riggers 3 and 7 foot down and both boards with small dipseys on them 5 feet down and 10 foot down. a few boats in the bay but plenty of room we mostly shied away from all boats and kept to ourselves. on our ist pass a rigger fired and alayna lost a nice salmon. then we hit the shore line and both riggers fired alayna lands a salmon ist then a pickeral. good start and alayna,s arms are tired now. then about fifteen minutes later a dipsey released on the board and noone home. then we hit a little lull so i set up our lead core with the fishy1 on it and put it down the chute within 20 minutes fish on alayna lands a brown. had 5 more hits on it before leaving to alayna lands bass and another pickeral and lost a nice salmon at the boat. 13 releases today alayna lands 1 salmon 1 brown 2 pickeral and 1 bass and she lost 4 salmon. not a bad day for a 8 year old girl she had a blast. got feedback from others the bite was slow .
my camera,s lens broke so jeff wil try and post pics for me

Fantastic and what memories for both of you.
I had my daughter who is now 31 and flyfishing in Oregon, out, fishing for bass on the Waterbury Rez when she was about the same age catching a 4# one. Get em started early!
