My wife got one two days ago on cut bate
Haven't been able to get any live herring using the herring rigs.
This has been the worst striper season i have ever fished, weather wise. The river
Current is very strong / the water is muddy
Even the , cormorants cant find the herring
They dive down and come up with nothing.
Seen one guy from shore catch a small striper.
They are here, but the conditions are very bad.

Was down in Kingston yesterday to check on the striper status. They were having a major run of herring. They were even jumping up on the the rocks on shore. The shore line at Charlie rider park was lined up with fisherman. They were scapping all there bait/herring right from shore. I only saw 2 Stripers caught the short time I was there. Both were schoolies. One guy said he caught 18 when he was Fishing live herring from his boat earlier in the week on the flats under the Kingston bridge. He was fishing from shore yesterday because of the threat of thunder storms yesterday. Another guy said he was running down the river Friday looking for fish and said he marked them south of Roundout. I was told the Stripers are still mostly south of Kingston.

Are you launching out of the coeymans area. looks like the Thruway bridge and rail road bridge in the back ground. The water was not real muddy down in the Kingston area as of yesterday around noon time. A lot of debris as usual. They were saying the temps Yesterday were 53 down here. It must be a cold raw day on the river today.

Iam launching out of the schodack island
State park just north of coeymens and on east side of the river.
It's cold, and i just got off the river, the 30 mph. Wind gusts are picking up that they promised for this afternoon.
Had a hard time getting the boat on the trailer straight with the wind blowing it off.
There were 5 other guys out there one with
A pontoon boat, better him than me .

I booked a night fishing trip for my wife and me in may always want to try night fishing for stripers, ever since i seen a video of night fishing on Raystown lake in pa.
They have hybrid stripers, and one of the guides shows the water just boiling with bait fish and stripers grabbing them.
They throw a stick bait in the water and it's fish on.

Yes it can get rough in a hurry out there. Sometimes it seems so calm when your in one spot then you round a bend it's a whole other story. It can be a long ride back to the launch at times.

Water temperature dropped again it's 47
Down from 52.
The water temperature has to be 60 or above and has to hold there for4 or5 days
After the stripers drop their eggs.
If the temperature falls below 60 degrees
None of the little squiggly's will survive.

Well the herring are biting good and i can't
Get a striper run.
Everyone is telling me up by Albany and above to troy they are slamming the stripers
So tomorrow iam going to make the long run, up the river with my boat 7 or 8 miles
And watch all this Hot action for my self.
