Rivers were good for Trout Opener

Post by TUnamas »

With Serenity still on the hard, I went river exploring with the fly rod for the trout season opener. I found a good nymph bite on the Winooski fishing beaded prince nymphs. Nothing huge, but nice hold-overs and spunky fish. I also caught a few on slowly swung bead head dark wooly buggers, but the bite was definitely a nymph bite in deep pockets off the main seam. Nice day for an opener, and it wasn't snowing. Hopefully Serenity is back on the lake in a week or two.

Ken,

That's a great combination. Also try a Wooly Bugger with a Caddis Fly Nymph as a dropper.
