Inland Sea 8/6 + 8/7

Post by riddlervt »

Did a morning trip 6-11 with my friend Waz. We set up 3 riggers , 2 with cheaters one rigger stacked 10 feet apart. Forecast called for 6 mph South, more like 10 mph...Had a nice 1 foot chop, mostly overcast the first few hours. Slow start, took about an hour for the first fish. Had an assortment of spoons, every lure produced fish. Ended up with about dozen stockers, 5 yellow perch, 1 white, and a smally.
Mainlines set around 60', cheaters and staked lines produced similarly. Worked 100-120 fow, marked a few fish, never marked a bait ball. Talked to a guy with a bass boat at the launch in the morning, about a dozen bass boats scouting for next weekends bass derby. Nice morning on the water! No size but steady pick. Lost several on the retrieve as well as a few dry releases. Several line snarls keep us busy.
Left the boat set up as Monday called for 90 degrees south wind and humid. On the water at 4, went back to the same spot and set up 2 rods with fixed cheaters, same spoons, same depth. Trolled around in circles for 2 hours produced one stocker.... Go figure! Pulled the plug and went swimming!
Left all the larger fish for someone else. Good sign for next year to catch these stockers which had been void the last 2 years.
