Post by Fishmore603 »

How’s the fishing been on the north end? I have a camp for a week in a week up by isle la motte. Any info on where to start is much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Getting a few Lakers at Providence and Stave, but I would guess you need to be Below Cumberland Head to catch cold water fish and even then it has been terribly slow

I haven't been on the water in a few weeks but it was slow around Cumberland then.
Things might have changed.
Usually starts getting good in august.

Try gravely point area to Cumberland head
Or try from sawyer island south to west side of providence island. Have caught a few salmon in that area
Some times from point AU roche bouy south on ny side I’ve done well in that area for salmon
If we get much south wind don’t bother in that area. Also the Ausable river are south of Valcour can be good late summer
Look for the bigger salmon a bit higher than you would think
My salmon lately have been hitting sliders well on 60’ ish riggers.

That's where I got my salmon on Sunday and Monday depth-wise 6 colors of lead and sliding cheaters on riggers parked around 60. Some good size fish too 1 8 pounder landed and released, one four and a half pounder for the table and a few others that had other ideas besides going in my net. All pulled from that 30 to 35 foot depth range

Wow sounds like they are way out of temp. That depth is upper 60s temp wise, and 20+ feet from the break.

We got 12 salmon down south the last two Fridays running our riggers at 55 to 60 in 150 FOW the temp was 55 and we got most of the salmon on chetters so the chetters must be in the 30 to 35 range? We also got a Steelhead and Brown. The 4 salmon and the steelhead we harvested all hade 1 to 1.5 inch white perch in ther stomachs

Wow sounds like fishing hasn’t been too bad. How long of a cheater are you running? Any hot lures or colors I should start out trying? Appreciate all the info guys.

I run 6’-8’ cheaters.
Bulk purple silver, blk/silver,purple/silver,blue/silver,blk/white,purple/white. Have all been good for me.
Sliders seem to be working best. With leadcore being next best for the salmon.

Fished the Sisters last weekend. Good temp at 65 feet over 110 feet and all we caught were small mouth bass. 8 fish off the riggers all over 4 lbs. Not the salmon we were looking for, but fun.

Bigfish is running the same size chetters 6' to 8' Silver purple did the best. I don't have a honeybee in the
PPE but I would think it would be a good one to have.

Caught a Laker today near Stave, didn't spend a lot of time with them, as I saw some stuff yesterday that got me excited for salmon.
