Solitary Monday out of Converse..

Post by Reelax »

Launched out of an empty converse Parking lot Monday morning at 1st light... The crew included DA and special guest Crazy Ivan... the lake was a flat 38 deg and the sky was overcast and the was some slight drizzle at times... We motored across the lake and set up.... 6 lines with 2 mini divers 1 lead and 3 riggers... it was before 8am and we started picking away at fish... once inside whalens we noticed lot so of debris with wood up to 2-4 ft from the river flows over the last few days.water color in whalans was perfect a deep green..... More Lakers in there... rainbow speedy and blue moon seemed to be firing best for us... nothing on dodger and flies today... We started the menu with Mackenzie hot dogs and pretzels... That would be considered breakfast as it was around 9am..

After a few passes we fried up some pre seasoned chicken wings that Todd brought from some fancy restaurant.... they were awesome and really disappeared before anyone got 2.. sorry guys... more fish, more slime... counter now approaching double digits...... Todd fought and claimed the biggest fish of the day... a stout Lakers that didn’t want to be netted...

After a few hrs we were back on the broad lake. When Dave hooks lnto a monster, taking line.... he fights and fights and we slow the boat... after a long battle he brings in a beautiful small tree.. so happy with his catch he guts it and throws it in the roof for the day as his bounty....

With that, and Crazy Ivan taking the helm is all we needed... I’m sitting in the shot gun seat and the port rigger fires... I see it and jump up push Da aside and pounce on the tica Kokanee rod like a panther on a partridge.

Fish on!!!! Acting like a salmon!!!! Splash... it jumps of the back and we know it is silver!!!!! After a short fight we net the 1st salmon of 2020 for Reelax... They are out there, just gotta find em....

We fished til 3pm all tired after the lake picked up around 1pm and bounced us around a little... all in all great day with great company and a small silver sent back to grow...

Won’t be long and we will be back.

Nobody puts ketchup on a hot dog, but ketchup on a tree would fill up a beaver!

I don't often get a birthday troll, but the stars aligned and we were able to get out and get a few fish, and a tree to boot!

Thanks Todd and Matt for a hell of a day, good food, laughs, fish, and we kept the Crazy Ivan Silver Streak going.

Till next time!

Tons of laughs and we learned a few things for the next trip. I would like to say that we did over 4 hours of trolling with no electronics do to an electrical power failure. Fishing with only the fish hawk we managed a little salmon working the area by memory. Thanks for having me aboard.

A 20amp fuse ended up correcting the issue, which was a melted phone charging cable shorting out the dash switches...that new heater is much more powerful than last years.....

good to catch salmon with just a fishhawk for a change... kinda old school...

Had a blast with you and Da Aboard and get DA his 1st fish of 2020 for his Birthday!!!

I’ll be out every week till freeze out which may never come....

Fish on!

You know what they say about the blind pig! And I'd take half the memory of that collective crew and put fish on board. Well done.
