Lure making...
To windy to go out so decided to pound out some more blanks, now to guess what color the fish will like this fall or for the shoot out!

Re: Lure making...
Nice looking blanks dreamcatcher. If you finish them as well as you made them, they'll be killers.

Michael; heres a looking at one of the ones I made this spring and it really was hot! Bright multi-colors worked great for all 3 " browns, salmon, rainbows/steelhead".drachma wrote:Nice looking blanks dreamcatcher. If you finish them as well as you made them, they'll be killers.

Re: Lure making...
Sure thing Raz; I call it tinkering, make them from the tin from computer hard drives and also make them from rifle caseings. I put up a little video about a year ago on the other forum.Raz wrote:Totally hand made huh...pounded them out. Cool. I'd like to check them out sometime. Impressive for sure.

Thanks! That's cool stuff.
I tried "cutting" a few from some stainless steel a few years ago. One caught fish, the other wouldn't. They aren't anything I can be proud of. Real junk.

Re: Lure making...
That's some COOL stuff right there
It is amazing how extreme passionate outdoorsman get in regards to being more "Connected" to their sport. Whether it be pounding out your own spoons or as many on this forum, paint and tape their own creations, tying their own flies and yet the all rewarding time spent customizing our fishing vessel platforms.
A true outdoorsman connection. For me I have tinkered a little with lure modification, particularly on Lake "O" adding Chartreuse and Flo- tapes to lures and paddles. Custom building Walleye rigs and up-grading stickbait hooks for slow trolling efficiencies.
What a fine connection in deed! Pounded out of old rifle cartridges???? I learn something new everyday!! Outstanding!!!
If you find time to re-post that old video I would love to watch it Not that I have that kind of time, but just so I know how it's done

Re: Lure making...
FRICK'N OUTSTANDING!!! I thought I was special fletching and making my own arrows, But THIS..... This is most impressive. Pounding on a bolt head... Totally Yankee.... I will never look at a trolling spoon the same!!!
Thank you for sharing! Now I want to take out my 300 Win mag and kill something, just to have a spoon made That would be a most incredible story..... bullet kills deer and then continues to fill the freezer with fish for years to come! Most marketable actually.... custom one of kind pieces of art!! I would pay $50.00 for such a spoon made from Tori's first deer kill with her .243. Do you feel like being famous??? I even have the name for you " Folk LURE Art". I'm not even a little bit kidding....... marketing is my thing
This is REALLY cool stuff. Truly pieces of art.

Re: Lure making...
Raz is 100% correct because that is true art. Heck I have a hard time trying to make a decent looking lure out of a purchased spoon blank and find it a challenge. To take old brass cases or a HDD case and cut and form a spoon is something else. Then to see your finished lure... that is an art and you are a true Artist.
Thanks for sharing.
