Best rod for dipsy divers

Postby Riverrunt » Wed Jun 05, 2019 11:14 am

What rod do you think work's best for
Flat lining a dipsy diver out the back of the boat?
Something wimpy or something with some backbone.
How long a rod do you use.
Iam setting up a rig now. I have a 6 ft ugly
Stick 8 -12 lbs test.
Any help would be appreciated.
Will.

I don't usually run off the back, but rather out the side. My favorite is a long 9-1/2 ft rod to keep away from other rods. I use a Heartland HLD-DD 962H heavy line 12-30. (DD is for Dipsy Diver) Paired with a Diawa Saltist 20LCHA levelwind which has great cranking power and drag. This is fitted with a Lite Bite Slide Diver. Currently available as "gently used and taken well care of".

I have short down riggers booms ,so i run them to the sides, and its only me on the boat. So my 3rd rod out the back is two colors of lead core tied to mono.
Or going to be a DD rod. Both have a line counter reel, so i can reset it to the same
Depth hopefully.
Thanks for your reply.

I haven't posted it. Just thought I'd throw it out there at my last post.
