Does anyone have any suggestions on how to easily remove old registration numbers from a boat hull.. Obviously they have been on for MANY years.
I have started to pull the old numbers off my boat and they do not come off easy. I am concerned I am going to loose paint if I scrape them off... Heat? Not sure.
Thanks for any input.

There is a product call: Sicker Off that I use on a few boats and a heater gun with a plastic scraper.
Go slow and they will come out without any markings.

razor blade works well for me. When I get down to the last few I just put the new over it. 27 years of stickers.

Once you start a corner drop a little lighter fluid on it and start peeling it back it works pretty well.

I have found WD40 works wonders for this project. It was a life saver for my removal on a prior boat.Reelax wrote:Does anyone have any suggestions on how to easily remove old registration numbers from a boat hull.. Obviously they have been on for MANY years.

WD40 really works wonders on adhesives. Many times it has worked better than specialty products like Goo Off and the like.
Plus everybody has a can already and you need very little to do the job.
Enjoy!

A hair dryer will do the trick- enough heat to get things going and not so much that you will bleck the paint. Plastic putty knife as suggested, but use it 'cold' don't blow the hot air on it. Any remaining goo can be taken off with WD40 but I prefer naptha (basically lighter fluid) as it evaps faster but can dull paint if you let it set too long, but not anywhere near as violent as acetone (which works fantastic but takes off paint nicely too!
