ATTENTION CHAMPLAIN FISHERMEN 2nd CALL

Post by popster »

I can’t emphasize enough how helpful it will be to the Lake Management team for us to give NYDEC our full support to the Anglers Cooperator Diary Program. As we get into the meat of the fishing season, and with the approach of a couple of big derbies, much data can be collected from the many fish that will be caught. Please consider signing up if you haven’t already. Thank you to those who have.

The NYSDEC, Bureau of Fisheries, the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Dept and the USFW Service are requesting the assistance of the Lake Champlain United this season by our participation in the Champlain Salmonid Diary program. They would like to see an increase in the number of angler cooperators, as this is such an important part in the assessment of our fishery and the data collected is so useful to our Champlain Management team.
Please consider becoming a Champlain Angler Cooperator this season, especially if you are an avid Champlain angler who fishes Salmonids. There is no down side to this. It’s easy and it’s the future of the Champlain Salmonid program that’s at stake.

Please consider taking a few moments to sign up and be a cooperator. Consider it a way of giving back to this fishery and providing valuable information to these folks. There is also a space at the bottom of the pages to comment with lamprey hits etc which will be very helpful to them. These folks are currently formulating a new 10 year strategic plan for the lake (hopefully completed late summer or early fall) which is going to be a more in depth nuts and bolts on how to manage the lake and its tribs. This is great news so lets take the time to help them out

A big thank you to those who have opted to participate in the Champlain Angler Diary program.
The initial response of a dozen anglers is more than anticipated by the program managers, however, the more the merrier and it doesn’t matter if you get out on the water 5 or 50 times. Any data you can supply will be so helpful and appreciated by the management team.
Thank you to the several Lake Champlain Charter boats who have signed up as well as several other members.
Let’s shoot for an additional 20 anglers!

My initial post has details on how to register.
Thanks guys
Tight lines

This program is so easy to get involved in and so helpful to NYDEC, VTFG and USFW Service. Please consider signing up for the Angler Diary program.
