Tip-ups are always fun. Running over to a popped flag and not knowing whats on the other end is a great thing. I was out two weekend ago for pike and had lost two over 10 lbs. At the end of the day I took a small rattle jig I was using for perch and stuck a dead XL shiner on it and started jigging it at the edge of a weed bed. Within a minute a huge pike nailed it, and ran about 30 yards out to deep water. I could see him swim off under clear ice I was on too, it was great. 6 lb line with a tiny treble isn't the ideal thing for pike as I was just messing around, so needless to say he bit me off but it was still fun on a little perch rod. I did get a few pike and pickeral on perch rods last year too, and landed them. Fun stuff.
