Abanaki saturday

Post by northernnightmare »

Got out this past sat for my shakedown trip. Fished abanaki with 3 others. Got onto ice at daylight and guys were already chasing flags. Four of us had 15 tipups apiece and it was a steady bite all day. Lots of 6-8lb northerns, buddies had a 11 and 13, my best was a 8. Out of bait and packed up by 2:30. Very good early season bite, ice was anywhere from 6-2" thick. Headed to carmi Friday.-NN

Thanks for the report! Did you park at Knights Landing? If you did, did you get on the ice from the beach and walk around? Just curious what the ice was like on the beach side of the Gut.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will go buy a boat.

Parked at the state park and walked through the woods and came out right at the bay.
