Any spots on lake Champlain ice over?

Post by KeeganR »

Has anyone been out? I was hoping to go check out the sand bar... Just checking before I have to spend the gas money to go out there...

Thanks!

Had buddies out there on Sun. They were on 8in on Dillenback and I heard over 6 on Carry Bay. Not sure SB is good yet.

I was up in alburgh today for work - sandbar had about 15 people spread out all over, inner keelers had one guy, nobody on the ice in the gut, saw some tracks out from knight pt state park, nobody on carry bay, a few people on dillenbeck, and a bunch of people jigging in Blanchard bay. We were on a tight schedule so I did not check ice thickness anywhere.

if you go to the sandbar be prepared to walk a distance out to find more than a foot of water under the ice

very shallow this year

Thanks for the info everyone. I usually plan on walking quite far when I head out to the SB. Might be getting an old sled to make it a little easier this year.

I wonder what these warm temps are going to do to the ice this weekend....

This ice is going to turn into slush here soon. Middle of next week should be fine though...I've heard reports of some nice pike coming in from shallows though. Might do some tipups soon....good chance to test out my new Ion electric auger I just got....
