Hi,
I fished 4-5 days this year for smallies in alburgh/ isle lamotte/pointe aux roches/ st-alban area. I caught a few fish every day but, all the usual spots are empty. I did'nt saw a lot of nest in the usual spots too. Other friends report about the same. Large mouth fishing is little better, but far from good.
What is your bass fishing look like this season ? What is the patern if there is one? I tried everything.

I don't know much about local smallmouth fishing conditions, but I think that the guy that won the FLW event out of Plattsburgh last weekend did it with spawning smallmouths, beating out the largemouth crowd. He was fishing Inland Sea to Plattsburgh.

I just looked at the results from that FLW tournament ... pretty cool to see 5 local guys in the top 10! It is impressive how the pro's can find fish. Us "hacks" could be fishing right beside them and not catch half as many as they do.

Plus, the guy that won with smallmouth was from Georgia, I believe, not exactly a smallmouth area

Actually Shayne McFarlin from GA fell to 6th place on Saturday, it was Ron Nelson from MI who took first place. Here's the article: https://www.flwfishing.com/news/2017-06 ... -champlain

I was following the event and they did catch mostly bedding smallmouth but several guys that were able to pull ahead, like Nelson, did so by locating a couple of nice largies also. It seems that most of them fished the inland sea and north of Plattsburgh, maybe it's better down near TI this year?? I hope so since Ill be doing the FLW BFL event there Aug 5th.

You are correct, didn't really get to enjoy smallies down in the flat lands. They have them in the northern resevoirs but not like up here. I can't seem to get a break while crappie fishing haha, no complaints here.

Up on northern part of lake where i am, theyre
Just getting off their beds now.
Warmer weather coming and if the rain slows down it should be getting back to normal.
Everything is behind this year, walleye are still not too far from their spawning areas.

Very nice Bass. This hasn't been my year to boat any big boys. Northerns keep crushing my lures. I've seen some very healthy 5-7 lb. fish. I've lost a few fat boys, so it 's great to see true success. Keep on 'em.
