Converse ramp...still OK for 2wd?

Post by fishhuntadventure »

I have seen pics and heard through kind souls that converse is still good as of past Sat.

Anyone know what this weeks weather has done to the ramp?

Was hoping to take advantage of the weather on Thursday but wind forecast is for 15N and a little more than I want over cold water.

Anyone know if it is still good @ converse to launch w/ 2wd? Saturday is looking good and probably won't be any sailboats LOL

All it takes is a few people that used the ramp to turn it into a sheet of ice when the water runs off there trailer or boat in sub zero temps.

Thank you K for the note, and others, regarding the ramp.

Unsure last night what the wind conditions were going to be and one guy I wanted to fish with being unavailable I called it for Thursday, going to make it saturday.

So I see from http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh20 ... 020943.jpg that the ramp is still good for a 2WD launch and retrieve! Wow! Looks like no snow for the next few days on the forecast. I hope to see some guys when I'm out on Saturday Saturday Saturday! I will have two buckets of sand and hopefully that is all we need. At least brakes will work once the rear wheels are under water

Randy- I will see you out there. ch68 and do you still have my phone #? plantstone and digitroll have it and I pm'd.

We are aiming for a 7am departure and 9am launch time. I got a new charger and hopefully with two batteries on board I will be good. The boat has been stored inside since fall so I shouldn't break my steering this year!

I should bring a battering ram for the ice I guess  but maybe there will be an icewrecker out ahead of me. Going to have a guy who is a frostbite AND champlain newbie with me. That'll be fun. Also an experiment with a big vacuum carafe of coffee to share with your buddies on the ice floe. :)

Sorry, no Vulcan stove, grill, or convection ovens on board!

Hopefully I won't be 1/2 in the water and in your way. Uggh. Can't wait!

I was thinking of getting out tomorrow. Still might!

However, this afternoon looks like a really great time to get out :)

How's the ramp??? Is it icy or snowy or just as good as it was two weeks ago??

Thank you for the info...

Well, I didn't make it- sorry I missed you. I think I saw your boat on Feb 4th?? (last time out)

Checked in with about 10 people. Didn't reach one guy but 9 "no" responses for a boat partner today... So I am aiming for an 8:45AM launch monday with one affirmative out of about 8 or 9 contacts.

Anyone else planning on being out?

I'll be standing by on 68.

Mark
