What license do I need
What license do I need
Alright guys, 1st post and will start with a question. I am from ontario but have a NY state fishing license. Will this allow me to fish the whole lake or am I stuck in just NY waters?
How does the smallmouth bite heat up come mid october?

This the map that showed you where you can fish with a NY license:

There is plenty of water on the NY side that are full of bass.

This should probably read "Whole lake but NOT the Inland Sea".Surprise wrote:Whole lake but the Inland sea. Ask a bass guy the action question. have fun!
And yes, if you're NOT fishing the Inland Sea area of northern Champlain, you're missing out on most of the best bass fishing areas at that end of the lake. Get a Vermont license. It covers the whole lake.

Except South Bay...vtbass wrote:Get a Vermont license. It covers the whole lake.
There was a young man from Nantucket...

NY License = blue and yellow areas only.
VT Licnese = blue and red areas only.
Hmmmm ..... which one is the better deal?
Re: What license do I need
The OP is coming from Ontario, and already has a NY license...
Maybe he wants to fish in South Bay...
I hear there's Bass in there...
lol

Re: What license do I need
As a non-resident of NY or VT I would say that the VT license is a better buy. NY non-resident fishing license cost $70 and VT non-resident cost $45.
That seems like a no brainer to me... buy a VT license.

It's a very pertinent question. Being at a marina & cambiste In NY my reflex was to buy a NY license. Won't do the same error next year.
Thanks all for the info.

But if it's only a day or two you can buy a license for 1 or 2 days (for this season)
