Fishing report 4/17/21

Post by Captain Kirk jr. »

Got a late start Saturday afternoon 4:30 pm. First troll since late January seen a few boats in bullwagga bay so hit the channel by the bridge. Trolled first hour with no success using a few of my favorite spoons. Switched up to small jointed rappallas (gold/black) and live target smelt with some flash off down riggers at 12' and Bam!!! First two in the boat caught by myself and my buddy Eli were some good looking lakers, followed by two sizable pike caught by my buddy Jerr and Eli, a gorgeous brown (jerr) and one of the nicest salmon ive caught on lake champlain!! Great way to start the season!! The two released pike were caught on leadcore 2 1/2 colors out on thomas buoyants orange/ copper. Heading back Thursday or friday to try our luck again!!

Nice salmon and brown.

Did you weigh or measure that salmon?

Well done ! that's a great multi-species day with lakers, a brown, pike, and one big fat salmon !
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !
Keep Calm and... Fish On !
